Enough of you asked for it, and who am I to deny? It’s time to dive deep into SHINee’s long-awaited comeback album Don’t Call Me, track-by-track.

Attention
For me, this is where Don’t Call Me starts to become a little more generic. But, the album has been so strong up to this point, so that doesn’t mean that songs like Attention are bad. Quite the opposite, actually. Its nimble electropop fits SHINee well, and sounds as if it could have been part of their 2016 album 1 Of 1.
Built around a slinky beat and whistled hook, Attention is incredibly smooth. I think I’ve mentioned before how I dislike whistling hooks, and that might play a part in my hesitance when it comes to this song. But, Attention has a nice, sprightly energy to it. As usual, SHINee’s effortless vocals steer the entire thing, culminating in a wispy hook that sees their falsetto layered to create a satisfying texture.
Attention’s understated groove makes me picture a smoky jazz bar, even though the song is anything but jazz. It has a sense of laidback cool to it, which befits an idol group of SHINee’s stature. But although it makes for a solid late-album track, it’s not one I would search out often on its own.
