Pierce the Veil played at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on Thursday, June 19th as part of their “I Can’t Hear You” world tour. The supporting acts for this date were Beach Weather and Sleeping With Sirens.

Beach Weather hit the stage raring to go. Their sound was a perfect mix of indie and rock. The band played fan favorites like “Sex, Drugs, etc.” and “Unlovable.” Thursday marked the band’s first time playing at Red Rocks, and the crowd was full of fans who already knew and loved Beach Weather.

Sleeping With Sirens took to the stage as the crowd eagerly cheered them on, and excited yells rang out in all directions. The band started strong right out of the gate with their hit song “Kick Me”, getting the crowd moving. Later in the set, they slowed things down with a brief sentiment from lead vocalist Kellin Quinn about family. Crowd members as far as the eye could see hugged and expressed their love for each other. With that, they segued into their song A Trophy Father’s Son, and emotions ran high. The emotional theme carried on throughout the rest of their set, as Sleeping With Sirens delivered a beautiful and memorable show for their first time at Red Rocks.

The anticipation for Pierce the Veil was palpable as the stage was set, and the lights dimmed. All four band members rushed the stage and erupted into the set with their song “Death of an Executioner”, and Red Rocks exploded with cheers and applause.

Pierce the Veil crowds are extraordinarily high energy, typically with an abundance of moshing and crowd-surfing. I wondered how that would translate to this seating-only venue, but the crowd wasn’t hindered by the lack of a pit at all. The whole amphitheater was in continuous motion, and it made a compelling display. Pierce the Veil has a hugely devoted fan base, and concertgoers often come to the shows in costume as an homage to their favorite albums or music videos. The large rock formations at the top of the venue were lit with five different logos representing all the band’s studio albums. All these things made the concert feel like a big celebration of Pierce the Veil, and their fans.

This was also Pierce the Veil‘s first time playing at Red Rocks, and lead singer Vic Fuentes expressed that it had always been a dream of theirs. The band members had family in the crowd Thursday night to help them commemorate the milestone in their 18-year-long career. The band is close-knit, and it translates into their performance quality and stage presence.

Thursday’s setlist perfectly covered Pierce the Veil‘s 18 years of work so far. The band played old favorites that lit the crowd up with the first note, along with hits from their newest album, and everything in between. They ended the set with their fan-favorite song “King for a Day” accompanied by Kellin Quinn performing his guest vocals alongside the band. This song ignited the venue like I’ve never seen before. It was amazing to see and be a part of.

Pierce the Veil‘s energy is so compelling that they’ll have you hooked right away. I’ll always make the trip to see them when they’re on tour. The memories are priceless. Pierce the Veil performed their hearts out, making their first show at Red Rocks a home run. The world tour will continue through December, and it is a must-see.
