The idea behind using placeholder content is simple: dropping real tracks too early in the production process can disrupt the rhythm before the final mix hits the right note.

On October 7th 2025, Franz Ferdinand’s and the Round 2 Tour stopped off in Omaha, Nebraska. More specifically, The Admiral Theater. It was a show to behold and will long be remembered as one of the Admirals best. Before Franz Ferdinand took the stage, we were treated to a rising star in Master Peace.

Remember Indie-Sleaze? When bands like Bloc Party, the Strokes and LCD Soundsystem led the way.  Clothing that barely needed any attention and resembled 70s apparel. You thought those days were gone, didn’t you? Well lo and behold, here comes, Peace Okezie, a.k.a., Master Peace.  With his trepid and grubby style, he is almost single-handedly bringing it all back. If you thought we left indie sleaze in 2010, I’m afraid to say you couldn’t be more wrong.  Just over a year ago, Peace released his debut album, How To Make A Master Peace. A new single, “Spin the Block” is out now and is already being called infectious.  No wonder, Master Peace is not your run-of-the-mill lyricist.  He is an Ivor Novello award winner. A prestigious award for songwriting and composition. Presented by The Ivors Academy, these awards honor original work by a host of musical artists, with winners chosen by peer recognition among musicians. As far as the show goes, I will say that most of the crowd were not familiar with Peace. This was evident by the smattering of applause he got after each of the first few songs.  However, by the time he performed his last four songs, the audience had learned who he is and had really begun to dig the music.  He finished by jumping down into the crowd and when he hit the final notes, the fans erupted with glee and gratitude.  Master Peace’s fan base definitely grew that night. You can check out his new single “Spin the Block”.

On the heels of their latest LP, “The Human Fear”, which was released in January of this year, Franz Ferdinand took the stage to a wonderfully ruckus crowd. They immediately got the people moving with “The Dark of the Matinee” this was from their eponymous debut album from 2004. Next was a song off the new album, “Night or Day”. Six of the 20 songs on this evening’s setlist would be off the new release. It was a perfect balance of old and new, and each song was performed with perfection.  The energetic, ever high-spirited, chummy Glaswegians were in fine form, never letting up. Alex Kapranos is a man on a mission as the bandleader, merging vocals with movement, he is a show by himself. Joined by bassist Bob Hardy, guitarist Dino Bardot (from his association with Yummy Fur), keyboardist Julian Corrie, and most recent addition of drummer Audrey Tait. As far as talent and ability go, this quintet is hard to beat. The band was exceptional at creating moments. One such moment occurred when opener Master Peace joined the band for the song “Hooked”.  But it was their influence over the venue that had the crowd creating their own moments.  Whether it was dancing til sweaty or belting out lyrics to songs like “Take Me Out”, or screaming la, la-la-la during “Ulysses”, portions of the show were on The Admiral floor as well as on the stage. The four song encore included, “Audacious”,  “Bar Lonely”, “Love Illumination” and it seemed only right, since the show started with a song off the first album, it should also end with one. Fittingly, “This Fire” brilliantly closed the show. I think one of the reasons the people like this song is because they get the chance to shout, “burn this city”.  Alex Kapranos’ passionate and affectionate style gripped the crowd.  He made them feel as though they were in the backyard with a friend who popped over for a visit.  The night was filled with wonderful music from both Master Peace and Franz Ferdinand. Twenty years since the first record, and it still all seems so fresh, and with Halloween right around the corner, let me say this, this concert was a real treat.
