The idea behind using placeholder content is simple: dropping real tracks too early in the production process can disrupt the rhythm before the final mix hits the right note.

Watch Brendan Yates’ Dad Introduce Turnstile at Coachella 2026

Turnstile launched their Friday evening Coachella set with a special message from singer Brendan Yates’ father, William Yates, a week after he underwent emergency surgery following a physical attack by Brendan’s former bandmate Brady Ebert. Ebert, who allegedly struck Bill Yates with his car, is currently being held on second-degree attempted murder charges, though he has claimed he acted in self-defense.

Before Yates and his bandmates—Franz Lyons, Daniel Fang, Pat McCrory, and Meg Mills—showed up on stage, Yates’ father appeared on screen and, in a prerecorded message, spoke directly to fans:

“I’m Bill Yates, I’m the proud father of Brendan. They’re all sons of mine. They’ve been practicing in the house for about 13 years now. Just recently they vacated the basement. They’re at a point where there larger the venue the better, because they just enjoy the energy. To all the fans out there, we love you and Turnstile loves you and enjoy the ride.”

Turnstile then appeared and went right into “Never Enough,” the title track off their most recent album. Later in the set, Blood Orange came out to perform their collaboration “Seein’ Stars.” Check out Bill Yates’ message and the live take on “Never Enough” below, along with a full set list.
