Carrie Underwood Name Drops I Prevail During Interview
Did you know that Carrie Underwood is a metal and heavy rock music fan?
An interview clip of the "Blown Away" singer revealing her taste in music went viral on TikTok. The clip was from a CBS Sunday Morning piece from earlier this month. The American Idol alum revealed that her go-to workout music is heavy rock and metal acts.
"Working out I honestly listen to like metal or super hard rock music. I like the band I Prevail. And their Trauma album is one that I have on repeat when I'm working out," Underwood revealed to the somewhat surprised reporter. "You're looking at me like what," Underwood laughed.
"There's a lot of not-children-friendly words on it," she added. "That's important to note. But I'm like, 'Don't go buy you know, My Savior [her Christian record], and then go buy Trauma,' and be like, 'Carrie Underwood told me to.'"
Following the interview clip, the TikTok video aired a portion of an I Prevail song then one of Underwood's gospel hymns back to back to show the stark contrast between the genres.

While the news is a surprise to some, fans of Underwood know that she has covered numerous rock songs in the past, from Skid Row's "I Remember You" to Mötley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home” and numerous Guns N' Roses tunes.
Joan Jett even collaborated with Underwood for a CMA Fest set and the 2019-2020 Sunday Night Football theme song.
"I've always been a fan of Joan Jett … I will use any excuse I can to work with Joan Jett," Underwood said at the time. "It's intimidating being in the studio with someone like Joan. She's a legend!"
