On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Ralston, Nebraska, was transformed into a high-voltage arena rock spectacle as Hairball celebrated 25 years of delivering electrifying tributes to the legends of 80s rock. Joined by opening act Rival 5, the night was a whirlwind of nostalgia, pyrotechnics, and pure rock energy.
Kicking off the evening, Rival 5 set the tone with their dynamic performance. Known for their high-energy sets, they warmed up the crowd with a mix of classic rock covers. Their stage presence and musicianship were evident, and they effectively engaged the audience, building anticipation for the headliner.
As the clock struck 8:45 PM, Hairball took the stage, delivering a two-hour, non-stop tribute to some of the most iconic rock bands of the 80s. The lineup features Brian HBK, Happy, and Billy on Bass, Guitar and Drums respectively. Dave Moody, Kris Vox and Patrick Stone share lead vocals, each embodying legendary frontmen with remarkable accuracy. The band’s setlist included hits from Van Halen, KISS, Mötley Crüe, Queen, and more, with each performance seamlessly transitioning into the next. The production value was nothing short of spectacular. The arena was filled with pyrotechnics, elaborate lighting, and larger-than-life visuals that complemented the music perfectly. The band’s attention to detail in recreating the look and feel of each band they paid homage to was impressive, providing an immersive experience for the audience.
One of the standout moments was the tribute to Queen, where the band captured the grandeur and energy of a live Queen performance, complete with Freddie Mercury‘s iconic stage presence. The crowd responded enthusiastically, singing along to every word of both, “Another One Bites the Dust”, and “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Another moment came when the band took a time out from performing to acknowledge U.S. Veterans.
Liberty First Credit Union Arena provided an excellent setting for the event. The acoustics were clear and the venue’s staff were accommodating, ensuring that the night ran smoothly from start to finish.
The audience was a mix of long-time fans and newcomers, all united by their love for classic rock. The energy in the arena was palpable, with fans singing, dancing, and relishing the nostalgia brought to life by Hairball.
