Guitar led and jangly, with a powerful drumbeat keeping time, ‘Wisdom’ draws much from 80s Britpop while retaining a very contemporary flavour. Caught somewhere between rock and pop, there’s a sort of melancholy to ‘Wisdom’, that’s perfect for those of us who enjoy our music dark, while also slam dancing to keep our minds off the misery of the world around us. They say music is the product of the times it’s written in. Perhaps this is one reason why Hollow Star is so reminiscent of The Cure – his sound is a reflection of the current gloomy state of the world, just like The Cure was the perfect fit for the 80s and the constant fear of imminent nuclear disaster.
