Got too many problems? Irish singer-songwriter Janet Devlin crash-lands her spacecraft in her latest single ‘Houston,’ reminding us that abandoning mission control and chasing freedom can be the most liberating path forward. Now, she unveils a cinematic visual – more accurately, a modern sci-fi-meets-western flick – inviting us into the serene solitude of outer (and inner) space.

With a Nashville snarl that seamlessly underscores the track’s honky-tonk flair, Janet continues to evolve her sound with ‘Houston,’ a bold anthem for those who find strength in solitude. She steps onto an empty beach, wading through clouds of sand, decked in full Americana: an oversized cowboy hat, a checked shirt, and her signature cascade of ringlets.

Devlin discovers a small, weather-beaten house on the beach – all creaky floorboards and bare cupboards –  and throws herself onto a bed, relishing her escape from civilisation. Suddenly, the scene transforms into a dreamlike space odyssey. Clad in a spacesuit, she floats past planets in a cosmic voyage that mirrors her love for rural life, which she compares to the peacefulness of outer space, far removed from the chaos of urban living.

Her two worlds, country-western grit and intergalactic fantasy, collide as she returns to the beach like an extraterrestrial country star, adorned in a gem-studded catsuit and giant galactic sunglasses. Singing and striding joyfully, she radiates the freedom of self-acceptance. In true Janet fashion, ‘Houston’ doesn’t shy away from emotional depth. Rather than running from her demons, she meets them head-on. Where solitude once frightened her, it now becomes the space where she finds clarity, courage, and the power to begin again.
