The Pinewood Bowl Theater in Lincoln, Nebraska, came alive on August 21st as rock legends +LIVE+ and Collective Soul brought their co-headlining Summer Unity Tour to town, joined by special guest Our Lady Peace. The evening was a celebration of ’90s and 2000s rock nostalgia, at my favorite local, outdoor venue that perfectly complemented the energy of the performances.
Seven weeks into the tour, they made their stop at the Pinewood Bowl, which provided an intimate setting. Located in the heart of Pioneers Park, with a capacity of around 5,500, the venue struck a balance between festival vibes and personal connection. The weather held up beautifully, and fans were treated to a clear summer night under the stars.
Canadian alt-rockers Our Lady Peace kicked off the night with an emotionally charged set. Their performance of “Somewhere Out There” and “Superman’s Dead” resonated deeply with the crowd, setting a nostalgic tone that carried through the evening.
+LIVE+ took the stage next, delivering a powerful, raw set. Ed Kowalczyk’s vocals were as commanding as ever, especially during hits like “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” and “All Over You.” The band’s chemistry was palpable, and their performance timeless. +LIVE+’s set was a reminder of their ability to blend introspection with explosive energy.
Closing out the night, Collective Soul brought a polished, high-energy performance that had the crowd singing along with all their hits. Ed Roland’s 70s-esque vibe and true rock legend performance brought songs like December, The World I Know, Heavy & Shine to life. The band’s upbeat vibe and tight musicianship provided a perfect contrast to +LIVE+’s intensity, ending the night on a high note.
