A24 has shared the official trailer for Civil War, the upcoming war thriller from writer-director Alex Garland.
In a near-future United States, a civil war is about to break out under the leadership of a third-term president (Nick Offerman). When the US Military wreaks havoc on the country’s “Western Forces,” a crew of civilians — including a veteran war photographer (Kirsten Dunst) — head to DC in hopes of protecting the White House and themselves.
“Every time I survived a war zone, I thought I was sending a warning home — ‘don’t do this,'” Dunst’s character says. “But here we are.”
Last year, Garland said that Civil War would serve as a companion piece to his 2022 horror Men. He added that his combat film would be “set at an indeterminate point in the future – just far enough ahead for me to add a conceit – and serves as a sci-fi allegory for our currently polarized predicament.”

Civil War also stars Priscilla breakout Cailee Spaeny, along with Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Jesse Plemons, and it’s set to premiere in theaters on April 26th, 2024. Watch the trailer below.

Garland has also been in cahoots with Danny Boyle for a potential new installment in the 28 Days Later franchise.
