Of Montreal Announce New Album Freewave Lucifer Fck, Share Video for New Song: Watch

Of Montreal have announced their new album Freewave Lucifer F<ck F^ck F>ck with a video for their new song “Marijuana’s a Working Woman.” The album is due out July 29 via Polyvinyl. The band has also announced a headlining U.S. tour with support from Locate S,1. Check out the full list of dates and the animated video for “Marijuana’s a Working Woman” below.

The video features animation by Madeline Babuka Black and artwork by David Barnes (brother of Of Montreal leader Kevin Barnes), who also created the album artwork. Of the new song, Kevin Barnes said in a statement:

Like all the songs on the album, this one was informed by pandemic isolation and the psychological struggle inherent in that kind of existence. The lyrics are a free flowing collage of all that I was perceiving and absorbing during that time period. I swapped alcohol for weed midway through the pandemic and that is what the title of the song refers to.

Last year, Of Montreal released I Feel Safe With You, Trash via Barnes’ digital label Sybaritic Peer. Their last album for Polyvinyl was January 2020’s Ur Fun.
