The idea behind using placeholder content is simple: dropping real tracks too early in the production process can disrupt the rhythm before the final mix hits the right note.

So many people love Phil Collins, including me. I was fortunate enough to cover his last performance in Omaha. It’s a bummer he has called it quits to performing live. When I heard the Phil Collins Story was coming to Steelhouse, a docu-concert, I was curious what that would be.

What I witnessed were these young, millennial men (which made it for an interesting juxtaposition to perform for the mostly boomer crowd), led by Seth Eliser, who was doing a very good Phil Collins impression though he was technically not Phil, but he was telling the story of Phil’s music career, having that whole story memorized in between songs. And to also sing like Phil and play drums, it was quite impressive. The whole band really delivered its musicianship. And they looked like they were having fun playing these legendary songs. The started with “Genesis and ended with an encore of “In the Air Tonight” and “Easy Lover”. I think Phil would be proud with how well they played, keeping his music alive through live performance.
