This New Ravey Lazy River Is Like Floating Through a Giant Kaleidoscope

If you're looking for a family-friendly respite from the rave, look no further than the "Kaleidoscope Kavern," a new lazy river installation wherein rafters float through a fantasia of technicolor visuals and surrealist art.

"Kaleidoscope Kavern" invites riders to surrender to the current as it propels them through a passage alive with psychedelic designs. The brainchild of renowned creative studio Moment Factory, the experience is located at Wilderness at the Smokies, Tennessee's largest year-round waterpark resort.

As guests float through the multi-sensory multimedia tunnel, they encounter trippy, undulating visual patterns and soundscapes inspired by the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. The immersive nature of the lazy river is enhanced even more by its spatialized audio, Moment Factory tells us.

"We're grateful to have collaborated with Wilderness at the Smokies on this audacious project," said Lyes Belhocine, Producer of the Theme Parks unit at Moment Factory. "Provided a clean slate for creativity, we worked together to bring this one-of-a-kind vision to life. We were encouraged to craft an experience that’s immersive, amazing and unforgettable."

Pete Tennis, Managing Director at Wilderness at The Smokies, says there are nine quixotic themes for guests to experience, like "Aurora + Aqua Borealis," where motifs of water and the sky collide in dreamlike fashion.

"This is literally a one-of-a-kind lazy river that was created specifically for our resort," Tennis said. "The lights and mesmerizing patterns are projected upon the tunnel's walls, the tubes and even the guest’s bodies, and then when you combine it with the sounds of nature, it really makes this immersive experience an incredible odyssey. I can’t wait for everyone to experience it."
