Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig, Chris Thomson, and Chris Baio were not messing around this past Tuesday, July 23rd, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Opening their set with two upbeat songs, campus, followed by cousins. This definitely set the tone for the rest of the evening, where even if the song played wasn’t necessarily upbeat, the band definitely were.
Ezra told the crowd “This is our first time playing in Lincoln” as they launched into “I stand corrected”. Vampire Weekend played a great mix of new and old songs, delighting new and old fans alike. Their sound was on point (give the sound man a raise), and the lighting was very good.
I’ve been waiting 15 years to see them live and they absolutely did not disappoint. I’d highly recommend this show not to just fans of Vampire Weekend, but to fans of music in general. Good job boys, even if it was a weekday.
