Two of rock and roll’s prominent superstars join forces to celebrate 50 years of classic hits in La Vista, Nebraska. The Astro Amphitheater hosted legends .38 Special and Kansas and an evening of classic hits spanning the last half century.
.38 Special’s set was filled with hit after hit, I almost forgot how many great songs they have. With over 15 albums, the crowd was treated to a night of southern rock smashes starting with “Rockin’ Into the Night”, followed by “Wild-Eyed Southern Boys”, “Back Where You Belong.
They also played “Teacher, Teacher”, the theme from the 80s movie Teachers. Next came the hits “Like No Other Night”, “If I’d Been the One” and “Fantasy Girl.” They also did a rockin’ cover of the song “Good Times” by The Easybeats. The closed the evening with “Caught Up in You”, “Chained Lightin” and finally “Hold On Loosley”.
They sounded great, the vocals were superb, the musicianship top-notch, it was reliving the 70s, 80s and 90s in a single evening. It was a phenomenal night of southern rock n’ roll!
Next, Kansas took the stage, and the hits kept coming. They opened their set with “Point of Know Return” and it was on fire! I didn’t realize that keys, violin and guitar all played that fast lick, it was a sight to behold. Those guys are killer musicians. They continued the hits with “Play the Game Tonight”, “Dust In the Wind” and brought the evening to a close with “Carry On Wayward Son.”
This tour is a must not miss, if you are a fan you will love this show, it was non-stop all night, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough, go see it!
