After making their US live debut at Baby’s All Right in November, Dublin band SPRINTS returned to Brooklyn on Thursday (3/21) for the first of two shows at Elsewhere Zone One. It’s part of their tour supporting their great debut LP, January’s Letter To Self, which they played all of (they also played four songs off their 2022 EP A Modern Job). It was cold and windy outside on Johnson Ave, but vocalist and guitarist Karla Chubb remarked on how hot it was onstage, and the sold out crowd definitely helped keep it that way as they jumped, danced, and yelled along throughout the whole night.

The whole show was high energy, but “Up and Comer” was a definite highlight, with the crowd yelling out the repeated “for an up and comer” after each “she’s pretty good.” Chubb went into the crowd twice, the second time for the final song of the night, “Little Fix.” Guitarist Colm O’Reillly joined her on the floor on that one, in the middle of a circle of sweaty, exhilarated fans. A fun set all around.

Brooklyn’s Slow Fiction opened the show with a compelling set of their moody post-punk. See pictures from the whole night, a few attendee-taken video clips, and SPRINTS’ setlist, below.
