Oakland band The Co Founder have announced a new album, Never Miss A Good Opportunity To Shut The Fuck Up, due May 17 via Acrobat Unstable (pre-order). The album was produced by musician (and Oso Oso touring drummer) Jordan Krimston, who also drummed and played keys on it, and engineered by Jordan’s frequent collaborator Daniel Charlson, and it features guest backing harmonies by New Found Glory’s Jordan Pundik on three songs. One of the songs with Jordan is lead single “Shoes For Runners,” and it’s a great first taste. The band cites Tom Petty, Militarie Gun, and Superheaven offshoot Webbed Wing (whose Taylor Madison designed the artwork for this album) as core influences, and you can hear that coming through on this jangly, countrified emo banger. It also sounds a little like a punkier Gin Blossoms, and it’s got a video that premieres below.

“Making Never Miss A Good Opportunity To Shut The Fuck Up was the most cathartic experience we have had as a unit since the band’s inception,” the band tells us. “Getting Jordan (Pundik) on the songs was a dream that Daniel made into reality – he came into their [San Diego studio] Singing Serpent session super prepared and crushed the parts. As a live band, adding Ryan (Tuttle), Brayan (Tarazona), and Colin (Frost) to the lineup has fleshed out the songs even further. This is the most fun I’ve ever had playing music and I am trying to do my best to enjoy every single moment of it.”
